Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
Building a proper foundation upon God’s word is of utmost importance to any disciple of Jesus. In Christ Methodist Church, we are committed to equip and empower our members by carefully planning courses that seek to help you dig deeper into God’s word and grow in your spiritual journey.
S.H.A.P.E.
Instructor: Earl Tan
Dates: 6, 13 & 20 September 2025 (Saturdays)
Time: 1.30 pm – 3.30 pm
God did not design ministry for just a few with seminary degrees. At CMC, we believe that every member of our church is a minister. During this course, you will learn how God can use your Spiritual gifts, your Heart (passions), your Abilities, your Personality and your Experiences (i.e. S.H.A.P.E.) to minister to the needs of others.
When you chose to follow Christ, you were given special abilities, known as spiritual gifts. God gave you these gifts for you to use to build up His Church. God also gave you passion for particular activities and subject. Having the heart for specific things, people or circumstances is to be used to guide us into a ministry that we really care about.
In these sessions, you will be shown how to assess your abilities, gifts and passions to see where in ministry you may be fitted to serve.
Knowing Jesus Through the Old Testament Lens
Instructor: Tan Kay Kheng
Dates: 20 & 27 September 2025 (Saturdays)
Time: 1.30 pm – 4.00 pm
Christians turn to the New Testament (especially the Four Gospels) to learn about the life and ministry of Jesus. However, to better understand and know Jesus, we need to put on the “Old Testament Lens” to read the New Testament accounts. Then we would see that Jesus’ life exemplified Old Testament values:
• He orientated his life before Yahweh, Israel’s God.
• He interpreted the Law (Torah) and the Prophets (e.g. Isaiah), on matters such as God’s wrath and judgment.
• He portrayed the kingdom of God.
• He read the Psalms and used them to pray.
Knowing Jesus through the Old Testament lens can shape our identity as Christians and at the same time lay the foundation for our obedient discipleship in today’s world.
The Trinity and Me
Instructor: Rev Jeremy Yap
Dates: 4 & 11 October 2025 (Saturdays)
Time: 9.30 am – 11.30 am
What does the Trinity have to do with my life? Is this just an ancient philosophical idea and is it even relevant in a modern society? Come and experience God as who He says He is, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and how He is inviting us into a deep and meaningful relationship with Him.
