SUMMARY:When An End Is Not The End - Theology of Death & Afterlife
DESCRIPTION:Date: 1 July 2023 (Saturday)\nTime:  9.00 am to 12.00 pm\nSpeaker: Bishop Emeritus Dr Robert Solomon\nVenue: CMC\, Level 2\, Sanctuary \nWhat happens when someone dies? Amid various ideas about the afterlife\, it is necessary to take a look at what the Bible actually teaches about it and how it sheds light on issues such as the intermediate state\, resurrection\, second coming of Jesus\, judgment\, and heaven and hell. This knowledge should inspire and motivate us to live here on earth in such a way that it prepares us for the hereafter. Forethought is necessary to be prepared for the afterlife. We will each meet with our own death sooner or later\, and to know how to die well will help us to live well in Christ. \nAbout our Speaker: \nBishop Emeritus Dr Robert Solomon served as Bishop of The Methodist Church in Singapore from 2000-2012. He had served previously as a medical doctor\, church pastor\, principal of Trinity Theological College and president of the National Council of Churches of Singapore. Dr Solomon has degrees in medicine\, theology\, intercultural studies\, and a PhD in pastoral theology from the University of Edinburgh. He has contributed many articles to books\, theological dictionaries and journals\, and authored more than 50 books\, including The Race: How to Live and Finish Well. \nSign Up\n\nWhen An End Is Not The End\nA Series of Talks on Death\, Loss and Grief. \nWhat happens when someone dies?\nIs it wrong for Christians to fear death?\nHow do we pray difficult prayers?\nHow do we deal with loss and grief?\nAre we prepared when the inevitable happens? \nThe subject of death can be difficult and even frightening for some.
