Living well in spite of
sickness
Jennifer, 2005
In 2004, I was
diagnosed with lobular carcinoma
of the breast. By the grace of
God, this is one of the less
invasive forms of breast
carcinoma, and so I was spared
chemotherapy and radiation
treatment. Nevertheless, my
chances of developing invasive
breast cancer are higher than an
ordinary person.
A biopsy was done. Later, a
mammogram showed that
micro-calcifications were still
present (they were supposed to
have been removed). I was told
to repeat the mammogram. I asked
my friends to pray that God
would grant me a complete
recovery, and that there would
be no need to do a retake
(especially “magnifying views”
which are very painful). I
determined that I would testify
and give Him the glory during
the evening revival service.
Things did not turn out as
expected. The
micro-calcifications were still
present and I needed to do
retakes. I was a bit
disheartened, but that night I
still testified. The speaker
spoke about the healing of the
blind man in Gospel of John. He
described it as being a process,
rather than an instantaneous
event. I believe God loves me,
and that my healing was not
instant because He wants to
mould my character. I pray that
I will be transformed into His
image day by day.
After my illness, I began to
think about my life. I want to
end well because at the end of
the day that is what really
matters. I want to receive the
crown of life. Man is destined
to die once and after that the
judgment. I noticed that some
kings in the Old Testament
started well but did not end
well. For instance, Solomon
asked for wisdom to govern the
country but did not have the
wisdom to govern his own life,
and it did not end well. On the
other hand, the thief on the
cross put his trust in Jesus,
who assured him that “today you
will be with me in Paradise”.
The pain doesn’t disturb
me any more
Anonymous, July 2005
On 11 July 2005 I
had a recurring pain on the
right side of my abdomen.
It remained for three days and
I finally went to a doctor who gave me painkillers and suggested
an ultrasound if the pain persisted for more than a week. I
prayed again, following our pastor’s advice to pray continually,
and the pain was gone by 15 July 2005. Praise the Lord!
Double healing!
Beth, 15 Jun 2005
For more than two
years, there has been blood
coming out of my mouth. I see
this every morning. I also feel
pain around my neck. On 12 June
during Sunday service, I placed
my hands on my neck as a person
from our ministry team prayed
for healing for me. I am very
happy because since 13 June,
there is no more blood coming
from my mouth and I don’t feel
any more pain.
No more back pain!
How Chee Mun,
19 Jun 2005
I had a back
pain. During my quiet time on 17
June 2005, the pain became worse
so I prayed for healing.
Immediately, the pain was gone.
Praise God!
In his time, I will be
healed!
Lily Ee, May 2005
I was diagnosed
as having glaucoma and cataract
(both eyes) by the
ophthalmologist at SNEC. I had
this cataract removed in
December 2004. My vision was
good after the operation, but
complications set in due to
infection and allergy. My eye
was tearing, swollen and red.
The eye pressure was high and I
had some tightness and
discomfort. I was given many
types of eyedrops to apply, and
had to visit SNEC very
frequently.
God has blessed
me by providing a good and
caring doctor. With God’s help I
am able to bear the discomfort
in my eyes since December 2004.
Caring church member Judy,
Evelyn and Jessie Wee have been
praying for me.
On 17 April 2005
(Sunday) I went forward for
healing prayer, and again on 6
May 2005 (Friday). Since then,
my condition has improved
greatly except for the tearing
problem. The swelling, redness
and tightness have all been
healed by our loving God. I want
to give praise and glory to God
for His goodness. I believe that
in the Lord’s time, I will be
completely healed.
Living well in spite of
sickness
Mrs Derek Sim,
March 2005
My back was
weakened some time ago when I
underwent two failed attempts at
epidural anaesthesia. Since then
I have had a nagging discomfort
at my lower spine area. It is a
sensation which I cannot
describe in words; not a sharp
pain, but simply a very
uncomfortable feeling. Not long
ago, it was bad enough to affect
my sleep. I went up during
ministry time for prayer after
the 10.30am service on 27
February 2005. I was touched by
the Spirit and felt really good
after that. I have no problem
sleeping now. Praise the Lord!
The Lord healed my back
during Sunday Service
Mrs Tan Eng Hwa,
January 2005
In 2001, my x-ray
result showed I had scoliosis,
with slight narrowing of my L3,
L4, L5 disc spaces.
On Sunday Service
on 9 January 2005, I was
struggling to stand up to sing
the introit and anthem. At the
end of the service, our pastor
asked us to put our hand on the
part of the body that needed
healing. Being a kiasu, I put
TWO hands on my back.
Praise the Lord!
He healed my back. When I went
for my next physiotherapy
appointment, I told June I had
been healed, and had no more
backache. She made me bend
sideways, forwards and
backwards. I told her there was
no pain. I want to thank God and
glorify His name. Amen.
